STILL, Falling from 0 by Nimi Collective

2021

STILL, Falling from 0 is a multidisciplinary performance where performers are in charge of solving paths on the value of movement between stillness and capitalist society. Aware of the oxymoron raised by their moving bodies in the performing space: a product inseparable from its means of production.

Breaking down the price of movement as our main question, we started facing a set of problems that took us back to 0, the beginning and ending of a movement.

When does a movement end? Is complete stillness achievable?

Stillness is the frame of reference from which every movement or story appears and gives value to our performance space.

The feeling of stillness is broken by the narrative of the space. Or the inability of containing a fall. Is falling the perpetual motor?

Nimi is a collective of independent artists Miia Mäkilä, Katerina Sotiraki, Nikita De Martin and Valentina Lopez. Four female artists with different backgrounds and training in dance, music, sociology and performance. Their focus is on questioning cultural norms around the body. Driven by their different backgrounds and various devising techniques, they strive to play with physicality.
